FIREWORKS 2023 CANCELLED - NOTE FROM THE OSSC CHAIRMAN BELOW:
Dear members and supporters,
It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that the Oakley Sports & Social Club will not be hosting its annual firework event in November 2023. This decision comes as a result of unforeseen parking constraints that we are unable to overcome.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to Lincroft School for their unwavering support, especially during 2022 when they provided parking spaces for our flagship event. However, due to their ongoing construction works during November, there will be a significant reduction in the number of available parking spaces compared to last year.
The Oakley Sports & Social Club Committee has explored all possible alternatives to continue with the event. Unfortunately, each option presents safety concerns or would have a substantial impact on the village, both of which we have a responsibility to avoid.
As disappointing as it is to cancel Fireworks 2023, we are looking forward to channeling our efforts and creativity towards making Fireworks 2024 an even greater success. We already have fantastic ideas to build upon the achievements of 2022, ensuring that it remains one of the most anticipated firework events in north Bedfordshire.
Despite this setback, we remain committed to providing a vibrant community experience. We will be hosting a series of other events throughout this year and the next.
